i can see the light

Alright folks, we're nearing the end of my trip. The last album to be added has been added. I'll be in Hong Kong for a few days, but if I take any pictures there, they'll just be in my existing Hong Kong folder.

PS. A big shout out to Steve and So Young. Haven't talked with you yet, but Congratulations on the addition to the clan!

Went to the Thaipusam festival in Little India today. Already posted the pictures up. Just a warning: don't go there if you're sickened by multiple piercings and floggings. Get your interest up yet?

greetins from Singapore

Yep folks, I'm in the place where they scare you into standing in the right place on the escalator. Great food though! New pics are up. Will write more later. And take more pictures of food.

i can feel myself think again

Damn, it's hot in Malaysia. Did you all hear me? How do people live down here? Anyways, had a wicked day on the motorbike yesterday. Booted around the island. I can say I drove on the left for a whole day up and down hilly roads and lived to tell about it. It's small victories for me people, remember that. Georgetown is a great place at night. Like something out of a Tom Waits song. Dingy and old, people scattered about in bits and lots of colonial buildings.

But had to retreat from the wall of heat and came up here to the Cameron Highlands for a couple of days, where I can do some hiking without having to take a shower after the first 5 minutes. Might actually need a sweater to go to bed tonight. Yikes, shades of December in Nepal. Anyways, kinda feel like the trip is reaching its denouement, what with only 3 or 4 cities left to do. Thoughts later.

if it's not one thing...

What happens when your body is weak from the inability to retain food and stuck in the middle of the backpacker stew known as Khao San Road? Well, you catch a virus, of course! The coughing is only just letting up today, my first day in Malaysia. This, after I've finished a bottle of chinese cough syrup (better than that dextromethorphan mindfuck) in less than 24 hours. So, finally, the camera has come out again. I'm in Penang, and I'll be renting a motorbike tomorrow. As usual, wish me luck.

can you feel my pain?

Oh to be in Bangkok, where a plate of pad thai can be had for 50 cents in front of my guesthouse. And here I lay, in my bed, watching the spinning fan, wondering when I can regain control of my bowels.

So in short, no pictures of yummy food for a while, folks.

OK folks...finally

Sihanoukville and Angkor Wat Part 1 folders are finished!

angkored

Yep, Angkor is everything they say. Some of my pictures will do it justice, some...I don't know. Just finished my third day of my three day pass at Angkor. Pretty amazing stuff. But I'm ready to leave Cambodia tomorrow and take a quick skip through Thailand on the way to Malaysia. Will have pictures up when I get a superfast Thai internet connection in Bangkok.

Siem Reap (the town near Angkor)is a pretty touristy place, for obvious reasons, but it's got a certain charm. Wouldn't mind spending a few days here, maybe if I was on a normal vacation. Will write more later folks.

still in...phnom penh

Don't know how many of you are checking in (HINT: I READ THE COMMENTS), but Happy New Year and all that if you're out there. I spent it on the Cambodian coast at Sihanoukville. Much better than the Thai border town I figured I'd be spending it at - pretty shady and dodgy place, from what I heard. It was good, had a free bbq dinner - pretty tasty at that - and some drinks. Pretty chill time in general. Plenty of opportunities to get wasted though. They were passing out free drinks like it was sponsored by the God of Beer. And Tequila. Slammers for fitty cents. Anyways, it must have been the cheapest New Year I've spent since I was in Calcutta. Anyways, the internet place I'm in right now is pretty slow, so no new pictures yet. Should be up soon though. Coming next week - Angkor Wat. OK, maybe I'm the only one in anticapation here...
